MASTODON ARE THE SHIT!

Ive got a new found love for the band MASTODON - I bought Blood Mountain a while back and to be honest it didn't grab me right away, but after catching some live footage (that impressed me) and researching them a bit - its official - I'm hooked!

Awesome music, musicianship, sound and all round vibe \m/

HED PE

Damn, just copped the Hed PE CD/DVD "DIY Guys" and its pretty mean! They're a band from California been around more than 10 years yet remained relatively underground but with a mad rabid following! Its hardcore, punk, funk, reggae, hip hop all kinda mashed into 1 brutal style! \m/

MY CUZ

Caught up with my cousins Earl and Denise last night - was awesome, had been a long time between good old catchups!
We recorded a demo of one of Earls songs "Thank You" to one of my unused old beats and it came out pretty sweet for the time and effort we put in =)

JUNE 1ST 2009

Damn, 6 months into 09 already!
Just got back from a cruisy ride out to Piha with the kids and niece Titene. Nice times =)

HANGMAN played @ The Masonic on Saturday night and that was pretty sweet - our last gig til July 10th, a massive stretch for us without playing live . We're on the mish to write some new material so we're busy anyway. I also DJ'd at Traffic Bar along with Mikey Rockwell - was pretty quiet but sweet none the less...

NZ's DJ ALPHABETHEAD is the man!

This is Alphabetheads 2002 DMC set. Its rare that a DJ is technically awesome, funky and creative all at the same time! This cat doesnt perfectly pull off every part of this set but its mind blowing none-the-less!!

KEEPING ON...

Keeping on as the saying goes =)

Just rocked a community show along with Marcellin Students on Saturday at Mt Roskill Library as an NZ Music Month promo. Was alot of fun - I'm sure the students enjoyed and got something out of it (mainly performance experience and a chance to show off their talents to the world! (well at least the 60 odd people that turned up). Heres a few pics - oh yeah of course HANGMAN couldnt pass up the chance to rock a few tunes too !

Fasa and Junior - The Mantis

Antoinette and Oliver - Amosca

Year 12's - No Name!

HANGMAN

* Bigups to Tori, Kate and Mark for coming along and supporting the students!!!

NEW EP UPDATE + OTHER STUFF...

The HANGMAN - BLACK ROCK WHITE FUNK EP has been stalled but will definitely be out and available for all in May!

HANGMAN will be taking things easy on the live front for May and June as we hit the drawing board to cook up some new tunes -
I'll also be working toward putting out The Defwell Project EP with Mikey Rockwell - the latest song we are working on is unlike anyhting I've ever done, sorta Sesame Street Pop/ Blues if you can imagine that!

School finishes for the term tomorrow and a break from that grind is well overdue - only to be soaked up by holiday programme mentoring, DJing and the HANGMAN south island tour! All good though, we only live once right!?...

THE DEFWELL PROJECT

The Defwell Project is a new collabo between myself and Mikey Rockwell. Some adjectives that could be applied include; funky, dirty, weird, poppy, bluesy, rappy, quirky, out of it, raw,...,...,.... Check out the 1st tune, GOOD TO GO

MASSEY UNI GIG 23.2.09

Had a sweet gig at Massey Uni on Monday - well it was fun and we played pretty good but the sound was kinda shocking - you get that though!

UPDATE

Its been a while...

Things are rolling sweet - back in the swing of school and the band is getting back up to speed with our new guitarist Aaron. Played Raglan on Feb 5th and rocking Oblivion tonight, Dargaville tomorrow (w/ 3 piece DAVE - Dargavilles best kept secret!)

HANGMAN is gigging solidly through til July plus putting out our 3rd EP soon too. This 1 will be a stripped back raw affair - minimal fuss, overdubs and general pedantic-ness! I really want this 1 to be a live representation of the songs we'll be doing. We are one of the (many) bands that get the old " you guys sound way different live than on the CD!" thrown at us all the time.

Life is good...

BRING IT BACK REMIX video

This vid was inspired by the Handle the Jandal video competition which basically means 'make do with what you've got and make something god dammit!'. =) (my interpretation anyway)

Made, edited, produced by Mikey Rockwell (who also features in the song) in 2 days all up! Chur bro =)
