I have a new found love for Jimi's music - damn - its got everything I like in music; Rock, Funk, Feel, Weirdness, Odd lyrics - the works!
Favourite tracks have to be; Red House, Manic Depression, Castles Made of Sand and Little Wing - brilliant.
How did I ever sort of, well, pass Hendrix over? :-0

Hendrix is Ok but YNGWIE MALMSTEEN can outplay Hendrix any day faster and blindfolded. All Hendrix's songs were derived from the blues scale with no creativity what-so-ever. Malmsteen uses a huge variety of scales including, blues, panatonic, dorian, lydian, phrygian and many more than Hendrix couldn't even play. So if you like average metal rhythm tracks (who cares about the rhythm section anyway?) and really really fast widdly diddly classically inspired lead guitar check him out...oh and sometimes he has Dio rip off singers do their best 80's pop metal singing on top...rock on dude.

for Hendrix best funky stuff check out his Band of Gypsies stuff with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox....personal fav's from this era Izabella, stepping stone, Freedom, In from the Storm and Changes (a Buddy Miles song also done with Santana) Also not really related but the first 3 Santana albums are awesome, imagine Batucata Sound system with Hendrix....I never knew how good until recently.
